Those of us fortunate enough to live in the coastal plain south of the Ridgeway know it to be the best place in the country.
We have our own distinct microclimate and bask in sunshine while rain falls on the rest of the UK.
We now have an opportunity to make it a single unified constituency as the population neatly fits the new required size if Charlestown, Chickerell and the other villages south of the chalk are recognised as being interconnected.
The good folk of Swanage would surely fit better with their neighbours in Wareham or Wool.
This might make it easier for our future elected representatives to focus on our area’s particular needs.
The consultation can be found on the website of The Boundary Commission for England. Such a change could reinvigorate local democracy.
