VISITORS to the Dorset coast will be well-informed after two display boards at two key 2012 Olympic viewing sites got a makeover.
The information boards which stand on stone plinths in the car parks at Osmington Mills and Ringstead provide details on rare species and various forms of wildlife in the area.
The boards became very faded and the improvements were delivered as part of a partnership between Dorset County Ranger Service, the South West Coast Path Team and Farm and Cottage Holidays which provides holiday accommodation in the region.
John Hayes, from the Dorset County Ranger Service, said: “The interpretation boards provide a wealth of information, helping visitors to learn about and enjoy this beautiful coastal parish.
“The provision of good quality visitor information and interpretation around Weymouth Bay is particularly important now that we are in the build up to the 2012 sailing events.”
He added: “Our thanks go to Farm and Cottage Holidays for offering to sponsor the production of these two interpretation boards.”
John Slater of the South West Coast Path Team said Ringstead and Osmington were key viewing points for the 2012 Olympic sailing events.
He said the team was active in developing relationships with businesses along the coast path to make improvements.
James Morris, managing director of Farm and Cottage Holidays said: “We are delighted to be supporting the South West Coast Path and its project to improve the signage at Osmington Mills and Ringstead. “Supporting local projects like this to improve the facilities available for everyone.
“It is really important and it’s great to be involved in a Dorset-based project that attracts many of our customers.”
