ANIMAL workers are appealing for information after 12 cats and kittens were found dumped by the side of a road in Dorset.
The RSPCA said the animals were found by a resident in a lay-by on the A3030 at North Wooten, near Sherborne.
They had been left in three separate brand new cat carriers. Officers took them to a private cattery where they are being cared for on behalf of the RSPCA.
RSPCA inspector Marie Griffiths, who is investigating, said: “The cats and kittens are doing well and look like they were well cared for before they were abandoned.
“It is very strange to think that someone who cared enough for them to look after them, and to buy three new cat carriers, could just dump them at the side of a road with really no thought for their welfare.”
Anyone with information about the cats can call the RSPCA on 0300 123 4999.
