OLYMPIC sailing homes will go on general sale this Saturday at an open day on Portland.
A show home at the Officers Field development by Osprey Quay will open its doors to the general public from 10am until 4pm.
The 77-house development, which has many environmentally-friendly features, is being used temporarily by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) as accommodation for athletes and officials.
LOCOG will take over the site in January and after the Games finish in September 2012, 19 of the homes will be transferred from the ZeroC developer to Magna Housing Association as affordable housing while 58 homes are being sold on the open market.
Prices for one bedroom homes start at £135,000, two bedroom homes at £160,000, three bedroom homes at £175,000 and four bedroom homes at £275,000.
Purchasers that buy a house prior to the Games are being offered a rent guarantee during the period the home is leased to LOCOG worth up to £10,000.

Behind the scenes
A UNIQUE event will be taking place on Portland next June for sail and motor cruisers wishing to get a behind-the-scenes look at the 2012 sailing venue.
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) will be officially opening bookings for cruisers to join the ‘Passage to Portland’ at 11am on Saturday, September 24 at the PSP Southampton Boat Show.
The Passage to Portland event is part of the RYA’s Sail for Gold programme takes place from June 2 - 5, 2012 and will be a weekend of celebrations that coincides with the Skandia Sail for Gold regatta and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The three-night event at Portland Marina will include a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee dinner and party at Portland Castle, a tour of the Olympic and Paralympic sailing venue, a talk from RYA Olympic manager Stephen Park on the team's preparations for the Games and the chance to watch racing on the first day of the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta with commentary from double Olympic gold medallist Sarah Ayton.
Places are limited to approximately 100 boats.

Coastal voices
A CHORAL leaders workshop with Coastal Voices musical director Howard Moody will be taking place this month in Dorset.
Coastal Voices, led by Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts, is a project that is recruiting local singers to be part of the Cultural Olympiad in 2012.
The workshop for choral leaders and conductors from Weymouth, Portland and Poole will take place on Saturday, September 24 from 2pm to 4pm at the Lighthouse.
It will explore elements of the commissions for Poole, Nick Cave songs by Sonia Slany, and Weymouth and Portland – John Surman.
