People in Dorset can learn more about alternative forms of transport during European Mobility Week.
The event runs from September 16 to 22.
This year’s theme is ‘Alternative Mobility’ and aims to promote the benefits of alternatives to petrol and diesel cars.
Adam Bows from Dorset County Council’s Travel Choice team said: “Electric vehicle technology is developing rapidly. This is an opportunity for people to come and find out more.
“Electric vehicles are cheap to run, quiet and don’t contribute to local air pollution.”
The newly completed National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 26 between Weymouth and Dorchester is being officially opened during the week and people have the opportunity to get on their bicycles for a fun cycle ride to the Ridgeway with the Mayor of Dorchester Tess James and the Mayor of Weymouth and Portland Graham Winter, pictured.
Events include:
* Saturday, 17 September, 10am – 4pm Electric vehicle promotional event in New Bond Street, Weymouth.
* Sunday, 18 September, 11am Celebration cycle ride to mark the completion of the new Weymouth to Dorchester Cycle Route (NCN 26).
Dorchester ride: Meet outside the main entrance to Dorchester Town Football Stadium at 11.15am for an 11.30am start. Weymouth Ride: Meet outside the bus waiting area at Mount Pleasant Park & Ride at 11am for an 11.15 am start.
