I HAVE just rode through our once beautiful town, which was elegant with its long promenade, clean beaches and individual shops and local characters.

What you see now is an endless rows of traffic lights, a town swamped with queues of cars polluting our air, empty flower borders, railings around our centre piece of the King’s Statue totally taking away the elegance of this statue and turning it into something you would see in the bogside of Belfast.

To put the icing on the cake we now have a gigantic eyesore, the new ice cream stall, four times the size of any surrounding tea stalls stuck right in the middle of the sea front.

You can hardly believe it could have happened but then you realise this is Weymouth where the residents’ pleas go unheard and the councillors say it’s all for our own good and they know best.

Well they don’t because this town has been ruined.

You can see this by looking along the seafront. It may have a lot of useless clutter but what the seafront is lacking is tourists. Get rid of the traffic lights and more importantly get rid of the main cause of the mess we are in – the council.
