WEYMOUTH’S new road is a magnificent bypass for Upwey and Broadwey but, of course, it cannot possibly be called a Weymouth Relief Road since the south-bound traffic from the Ridgeway all ends up in the Manor Road roundabout as before.
A true Weymouth Relief Road could only have been a Western Route from the Ridgeway to Ferrybridge with spurs off to Weymouth.
The Weymouth Civic Society is rightly concerned at the proposed Ferrybridge development which would rule out a future Chickerell/Portland link road.
No doubt Portlanders will agree.
