POLICE are urging people to keep their valuables out of view after cash was stolen from a van at Winterborne Monkton.

The window of a Renault van was smashed between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Wednesday and a quantity of cash was stolen, police said.

Dorset Police is currently running Operation Countryside to crack down on rural crime and is urging people to take preventative measures to keep their property safe.

Inspector Les Fry of Dorchester Police said: “Please do not leave cash or any valuable items on view in vehicles.

“We would also ask if you see anything suspicious to please contact us.”

Witnesses to the theft at Winterborne Monkton are asked to contact Dorchester Police Station on 01305 222222.
