A DIAMOND studded ring was part of a haul stolen from a village home.

Police said two men entered a house in Melbury Osmund – between Dorchester and Yeovil – and stole items including a laptop, cameras and a distinct ring in the shape of a dolphin.

Police Constable Gemma Nowell-Smith, of Dorchester Police, is hoping the sapphire and diamond encrusted gold band will help trace the thieves.

She said: “The ring is an unusual item – it has a gold band in the shape of a dolphin and is peppered with sapphires and diamonds.

“The dolphin has diamonds for eyes.

She added: “I would also urge anyone who is offered a ring of this description to get in touch with police immediately.

“The victim is very upset by this distressing incident and any information may help me to recover the stolen property and bring the offenders to justice.”

Any witnesses of the burglary at 11.30am on Friday, September 9, or anyone with information about the stolen items or men responsible can call PC Nowell-Smith on 01305 222222.
