Following confirmed clusters of measles in some parts of Europe, health chiefs in Dorset are encouraging people to get protected.
There are no age restrictions to receiving the vaccination and it can be free of charge for those falling within an at-risk group.
At risk groups are:
• Children who aren’t fully immunised or have never been immunised;
• Students at college or university who have never been immunised or completed a full course of immunisation;
• Unimmunised people travelling to Europe – adults wanting MMR vaccination may be charged by GP if requesting vaccination.
Denise Winter, health programme advisor of immunisations for NHS Dorset, said: “With the holiday season approaching, we are reminding parents that it is extremely important to get their children protected against this disease.”
