YOUNG dancers from Weymouth are appealing for local support to help get them to one of the world’s most prestigious stages.

Performers at Quay Theatre Arts have been shortlisted alongside four other acts with their dance ‘Intensity’ to appear in the first ever Dance Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in November.

The winner will be chosen by public vote so the youngsters are calling on readers of the Dorset Echo to help make their dreams come true.

Dance teacher Jill Tindale said: “It would be an amazing experience to see this group on the Royal Albert Hall stage.

“These young people work incredibly hard throughout the year, attending up to 10 hours of dance classes a week and it would be a fitting reward for them.

“This is a great chance to showcase the talent we have here in Dorset.”

Jill and Steve Nicholas are principals of the school in Lynch Lane.

Mr Nicholas said: “I was excited when the email arrived advising us that we had been chosen to go on the short list and at the Bournemouth Dance festival was able to tell the dancers there and then. You can imagine how excited they are.”

The vote is open until Saturday so vote now at pagetostage.org/partners/dan ceproms.aspx
