IT was fourth time lucky for a family after their fourth-generation daught-er was born.

Jade Caitlyn Howard is the first daughter of Nikki, 33, and Mike Howard, 24, from Portland.

She was born on May 21 at Dorset County Hospital and is continuing the family tradition of the first child born being female.

She weighed 7lbs and 6oz.

Her great grandmother Muriel Mitten was a first daughter as was grand-mother Sue Stoodley.

She gave birth to Nikki, who then had Jade.

Proud mum Nikki said: “It’s so lovely. We can’t stop cuddling her.

“She’s a very happy baby in the day but at night she doesn’t like it because we’re not cuddling her.”

She added: “We would definitely like to say a thank you to the midwives and also the university students because they were amazing.

“All the staff were brilliant, so helpful and lovely.”
