I MADE lots of new friends when I braved the blustery weather and went along to Dorchester Town FC’s community fun day at the Great Field, Poundbury last Sunday.

As well as all the children who stopped to say hello, I met Dinky Bear, the football team’s mascot.

I took part in a running race, which I lost to Dinky. But then we both helped the children with their tug of war competition and my team beat Dinky’s!

I also met Dorchester’s town crier Alistair Chisholm, and Dinky and I practised our ‘oyez’s’ with him.

There were a lot of other activities on offer, including a dog show, mini soccer tournament and bouncy castles, so Dinky and I were both worn out by the time we went home!

Joke time: What does a footballer and a magician have in common ?

Both do hat tricks!

Which goal keeper can jump higher than a crossbar ?

All of them, a crossbar can’t jump!

Why was it hot after the football match?

Because all the fans were gone!

Why did the golfer wear two pairs of pants?

In case he got a hole in one!

Why did Cinderella get kicked off the football team?

Because she ran away from the ball!
