A SWIMMING instructor made a splash for charity by helping to paint the capital pink during a marathon walk.
Linda Beeby teamed up with some local women to walk the London Moonwalk and raise money for breast cancer causes.
The Weymouth Swimming Pool instructor power-walked her way around the 26.2-mile course to raise £300 for charity.
Linda, 62, who lives near Dorchester, completed the course in six hours and 34 minutes.
She said: “The worst part was at dawn when I was going round by Buckingham Palace and I was thinking ‘only two more miles to go’.
“There was a fantastic atmosphere all the way around the course, we were going through Hyde Park and down The Embankment and everything was lit up. It was really nice going all over the bridges but it was only seven or eight centigrade so it was pretty nippy.”
This year’s event was the third Moonwalk that Linda has entered.
She said: “A marathon is not a normal thing for people to do.
“If you train your body and mind you can do amazing things.
“I think it’s fulfilling to push yourself once or twice in your life and it makes you proud when you have helped someone.”
Keen runner Linda is a member of Hardy’s Hash House Harriers and is auctioning off a signed T-shirt from the group’s 1,300 run.
Anyone who wishes to sponsor Linda can do so at the reception of Weymouth Swimming Pool.
