FRAUDSTERS who trick computer owners out of hundreds of pounds are operating in Dorset again.
Police have received reports of a scam in which members of the public receive calls or emails warning them they have a problem with their computer.
The caller claims to be from a major computer company, like Microsoft, and says the problem can be fixed remotely for a fee of around £150. Victims normally agree to pay by credit or debit card, then never hear from the person again.
No work is carried out on their computer. Dorset Police first warned of the scam in February but reports suggest it is still operating.
A spokesman said: “We would advise the public not to agree to pay for services from people that they are not 100 per cent certain are genuine.
