MUSIC lovers of all ages soaked up the sounds of a two-day harbourside music festival.

The Quayside Festival at Weymouth harbour proved a popular draw for local residents and holidaymakers over the bank holiday weekend.

Despite the changeable weather, people flocked to the free festival to enjoy a pint and watch local bands and acts from further afield.

Band organiser Danny Adams said festival goers enjoyed 20 bands playing between 12pm and 10pm over the two days.

“We have a mixture of cover bands and original acts and we’re attracting bands from London and from as far as Nottingham who want to come and play at the festival.

“It’s a really special two days and I know that everyone looks forward to it. It’s the start of the summer for everyone and so far we’ve been blessed with no rain,” he said.

The Quayside Festival is organised by Keith Tregidden from the Rendezvous nightclub.

Mr Adams added: “The festival is very popular because it’s free and because of everything the Rendezvous do.

“They pay for everything and make sure that everyone is looked after and that there’s never a dull moment.

“There couldn’t be a bigger spectrum of music on offer.”

Weymouth resident Pauline Howse was celebrating her 68th birthday at the festival.

She said: “I think it’s brilliant. There’s always somewhere to go and something to do.

“We love listening to the music.”

Simon Morgan, 27, of Weymouth, said: “The Quayside Festival is a fantastic weekend and I wish they would do more of them.

“The organisation is extremely good.”

Karen Boyle, 57, of Weymouth, was visiting the festival with friends Mary and John Wood and Lil and Richard Clifton.

She said: “It’s very family orientated and Weymouth has a brilliant music scene.”
