SPONSORSHIP was raised for the charity Children of Fiji, when four people decided to walk the London Marathon route. Cattistock couple Margaret and Peter Long (who run the charity) completed the 26.25 mile walk with Neil Rowland, also from Cattistock, and their son-in-law Barry Moor on Sunday, May 22. The walk took them just over 7 hours.
CATTISTOCK Church Flower Festival and Art Exhibition will take place in the village from Friday June 24 until Sunday, June 26.
As part of the Summer Festival there will be a concert by the renowned HMS Heron Royal Naval Volunteer Band from RNAS Yeovilton in the church at 7.30pm on Friday, June 24. Competing in the annual Royal Navy Band Festival in Portsmouth last year, the band was voted the best in the Fleet Air Arm. This will be a musical experience to remember.
Tickets are £8 per person and that includes interval refreshments. They are on sale from Wednesday, June 1 at Cattistock Post Office and Stores, the Fox and Hounds, the Village Stores in Maiden Newton and the Newsagents in Maiden Newton.

On Sunday, June 26 there will be teddy parachute jumping from the church tower, Savill Hall cream teas, plant and bric-a-brac stall and an organ recital in church plus history tours.
Has your Teddy Bear got what it takes to jump off the roof of the church tower attached only by a zip-wire? Just bring your Teddy to Cattistock church between 2-4pm. We provide the attachment and each brave Teddy will receive a certificate and be entered into a prize draw.
Watch your dare-devil bear and then reward it with a cream tea in the Savill Hall afterwards. Remember, you are never too old to own a Teddy!
At 6pm on Sunday, June 26 there will be Hymns and Pimms (Free Pimms and Nibbles before Songs of Praise in the church) MELBURY Osmond Garden and Show Society has organised a coach trip to Kingston Lacy (National Trust property) on Saturday, June 11.
The coach leaves the bus stop at 10.30am and returns at approximately 5pm.
The cost is £10 for members and non-members (free to NT members). There is a good restaurant at the gardens.
Orders with cheque (made payable to Melbury Osmond Garden and Show Society) should be passed to Graham Melling, Drive End Lodge, Melbury Osmond, Dorchester DT2 0NA STRATTON and Bradford Peverell WI has organised their annual outing for Thursday, June 16.
This year it will be a visit to Wells in Somerset followed by a cream tea on the way back at Trent WI.
Members can bring friends, and non-members can also join in as long as there is space.

EVERSHOT Country Fair takes place between 12 noon until 5pm on Sunday, June 19 at Moorfields and the cricket pitch.
There will be locally sourced food and drink marquees and, NEW this year, Country Rural Crafts. There will also be trailer rides around the beautiful Melbury Park.
The entrance fee is £1 per adult, children free. Free parking is available.
THERE will be a Coffee Morning in Frome St Quintin on Friday, June 24 at the kind invitation of Johnny and Rebecca Herbert.
