‘It’s worse than ever’ – I totally agree with that statement.

I travel to work via Boot Hill every week Monday to Friday.

I also go home at lunch times making a total amount of trips per week 20.

What used to take 10 minutes tops, at lunch time, can now take up to 20 minutes.

The problem I encounter is going up Boot Hill. I come along Newstead Road and get in the queue.

The lights turn green and it lets two cars through. You then sit there for five minutes until lights go green again only to get stuck at the top of Boot Hill for yet a further five minutes.

The lights at the top of Boot Hill is where they have gone wrong the traffic can’t get away from that area fast enough.

The lights can’t be adjusted any more so they stay green longer as this means the traffic coming from Rodwell direction will end up waiting even longer.

I have often seen traffic backed up to the bridge on Buxton Road and that’s at about 12.30pm, something which used to happen only in the height of the summer.

The people that designed this traffic system need to put their hands up and admit they got it wrong.

You need to put the top of Boot Hill back to the way it was and get rid of the lights.

By the way, has anyone thought about the cost of running all the new lights? And who is going to pay the increased electric bill?

Yes you guessed it, us the council tax-payers.
