AS part of National Volunteers Week, from June 1 to 7, Dorset Wildlife Trust is getting involved with events to celebrate the efforts of volunteers all over the UK.

This annual event highlights the difference volunteers make, and encourages others to see what difference they can make in their community.

The week plays a huge part in raising the profile of the millions of volunteers who regularly contribute to society, while inspiring others to get involved too.

Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Volunteers Week has a range of activities to choose from. There are trips to the Brownsea Island Reserve, wildlife surveys and the launching a new Kayak Trail.

Steve Davis, volunteering manager for Dorset Wildlife Trust said: “Our aim during national Volunteers Week is to provide a wide variety of opportunities for people so that there will be something for everyone.

"It’s the perfect time to come along and give it a try. Volunteering with Dorset Wildlife Trust will not only help you to get out and enjoy our amazing countryside, but it’s also very satisfying work knowing that every little bit goes towards helping local wildlife.”

The Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Greenforce young volunteers will be at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, Poole, on June 7 from 9am to noon to answer any questions.

This is an opportunity to ask staff and volunteers more about volunteering with the trust. These opportunities are all offered as part of Volunteers Week, but there are volunteering opportunities throughout the year.
