A DORCHESTER hair salon is hosting a charity event that it hopes will prove to be a cut above the rest.
Aura in Damers Road is offering free hair cuts from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, July 2 in exchange for donations to the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.
Owner of the salon Naomi Cox said staff at the hairdressers were looking forward to raising as much money as possible for the charity.
She said: “Cancer touches a lot of us to be honest, my in-laws have just gone through it and my mother-in-law was at the Joseph Weld Hospice.
“I just think it’s such a good charity to raise money for and this is a bit different. I’ve not heard of anyone doing anything like this.”
Joining Naomi to provide hair cuts on the day will be Aura staff Becky Smith, Helen Ings, Sammy Matthews and Zoe Penfold.
Customers will be invited to just turn up and donate whatever they wish and get a free haircut in return.
Naomi said: “It’s just whatever they offer to put in as a donation – hopefully we will gets lots.
“There are no bookings, we want people to just walk in and sit and wait.
“There are going to be five staff on and hopefully we are going to be really busy.”
