SONAR tactician Hannah Stodel and helmsman John Robertson are delighted to have found a home from home on Portland.

The duo are one of Skandia team GBR’s longest-running teams, having joined forces 10 years ago – one year before main sheet trimmer Steve Thomas completed the group.

Hannah, 25, formerly of Colchester, who lives on Easton, said: “The sailing academy has become home and it’s cool to cruise up to the venue rather than spend hours sorting the boats out, we can leave them half rigged here.”

Castletown’s John, 39, formerly of North Haven, Sunderland, also began sailing at a young age and continued the sport when he joined the RAF.

In 1994 a motorcycle accident left him paralysed from the chest down but within two years he was back on the water winning silver at a national championship event.
