FOLLOWING the jailing of O’Connor, the officer in the case, Detective Constable Tom Isaac, of Weymouth CID, said a strong message had been sent to other potential offenders.
He said: “This sends a clear message to anyone with the propensity to commit offences such as this then the court will deal with them appropriately.
“The defendant in this case shows risks towards children and it is only right that he has a period in custody to prevent anything more serious occurring in the short term and to ensure he receives the correct attention to greatly reduce the risks when he is released.
“The victim’s parents were grateful to the court for recognising the seriousness of this case and the potential outcomes.”
