BIKERS are getting the chance to improve their riding skills for free.
The Dorchester and West Dorset Advanced Motorcyclists together with Dorset County Council and the Institute of Advanced Motorists are offering the free courses to riders across the county as part of efforts to improve skills and safety.
Secretary for Dorchester and West Dorset Advanced Motorcyclists Brian Purnell said that pervious courses had been very popular and that many riders have gone on to pass their Advanced riding test.
He said: “As the UK’s leading road safety charity, the Institute of Advanced Motorists is dedicated to increasing skills for all road users, raising driving and riding standards and helping to save lives on our roads.”
He added: “All our group observers are volunteers who give of their time in aid of improving road safety and road riding skills amongst bikers.”
The free course consists of three two-hour theory presentations given by a qualified civilian police riding instructor.
The latest course will be held at the George Albert Hotel, Wardon Hill, Evershot near Dorchester on Thursday, July 18, 21 and 28.
The last course that the group run attracted more than 100 riders from across the county and so early booking is recommended.
