DORSET residents are being urged to look out for their neighbours and not let them become the victims of unscrupulous burglars and rogue traders.
Dorset Police service has re-launched its Refer a Neighbour scheme in the county and is encouraging people to sign up and refer their vulnerable and elderly neighbours if they think they may be at risk.
Under the scheme some housing trusts have said that they will help by fitting free locks and door chains for elderly and vulnerable people in the community to make them feel more secure.
Home visits from local Safer neighbourhood teams are also available to advise people on home security.
Detective Inspector Stewart Dipple, who is leading the scheme, said: “We want to make the elderly and vulnerable members of our community safer and feel safer in their homes.” For details call Dorset police on 01305 222222.
