LEADING roles at Purbeck District Council have been elected for the coming year.
Eric Osmond has been made the new chairman of Purbeck District Council with Nigel Dragon as the new vice-chairman and David Budd has been voted in as leader with Keith Critchley as his deputy.
The role of spokesman for the natural environment has gone to councillor Keith Green.
His job will include looking at countryside management, Purbeck as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, environmental initiatives and coastal protection.
Graham Holmes was given the brief of built environment with conservation areas, listed building, highways, litter and public conveniences under his watch.
The housing and social issues role has gone to councillor Beryl Ezzard and Simon Goldsack was voted to be spokesman for the local economy.
No political party has overall control of the council.
The Conservatives have 11 seats, the Liberal Democrats 10 and independent councillors have two. There is also one vacancy so a by-election is due to take place on Thursday, July 7, for the Lytchett Matravers and Morden Ward.
