PEOPLE in Dorset are being given advice on how to protect their heads as part of National Brain Injury Week.
Brain injuries are one of the fastest growing areas of disabilities among young people, according to a new report by Headway Dorset.
In response to this Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is supporting the week’s theme of protecting against cycling injuries by giving advice.
They are urging young people to wear helmets when out on their bikes to prevent life changing injuries.
Headway Dorset report 60 people each year in the county will require round the clock care life-long care as a result of a brain injury.
Injuries to the brain can result in dramatic changes including personality changes, memory loss, physical disabilities, speech and language difficulties and sensory loss.
