Authorities are still confident travellers who have set up camp on Poundbury’s Great Field will be gone by next week.

Some residents have been angered by a group of travellers parking four caravans on the field at Prince Charles’s model development.

The travellers arrived on Monday evening and were still there yesterday.

On Tuesday landowner the Duchy of Cornwall said it had given the travellers a week to move on but Dorset County Council said it had been informed the group planned to leave the estate by Sunday.

A council spokesman said yesterday: “We are still confident they will stick to their word and be gone by Sunday.”
