FOUR friends will be hitting the road in a bid to race from London to Paris for charity.
Chris Evans, 38, a group accountant for Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, from Chickerell, will be cycling between 60 and 90 miles a day for four days in the hope of raising £1,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The charity provides practical, medical and financial support for families affected by cancer and campaigns for better cancer care.
Mr Evans, right, will be joined by his four friends from school in Swansea, Martin Thomas, 38, his brother Andy Thomas, 40, French-born Gregoire Godin, 38, and support driver Phil Harrison, 38.
Over the past couple of years Mr Evans and his friends have undertaken various challenges for charity including the Three Peaks Challenge and a marathon.
He lost his father to cancer seven years ago and said that he had several friends who had fought or were fighting the condition.
He said: “Ten years ago I didn’t know anybody who had it but now I know of lots of people who have had it or who have died from it.”
The team will be starting out from London on July 28. They have been in training but Mr Evans said he thought it would be a big challenge.
