THE number of cars damaged in a 20-minute smashing spree on Tuesday night has risen to 41 after another damaged car window was found smashed.
Residents were woken just before midnight and saw three hooded figures hitting cars indiscriminately across at least seven Littlemoor streets with what is believed to have been a hammer.
And police said yesterday another victim arrived home from holiday to find their car had been hit.
PC Kevin Eames of the Weymouth Safer Neighbourhood Team, said colleagues have continued making house-to-house inquiries and forensic evidence has been taken.
No arrests have been made but victims have been supporting police calls and appealing on the Echo website for anyone who has any information about the perpetrators to hand their names into the police.
PC Eames said the latest information continues to suggest that the trio of hooded vandals, two in black and one wearing grey, started in the Selwyn Close and Clayton Close area before heading through alleyways to the area of Kestrel View, Fieldfare Close and The Doves.
It is believed they then ran to the older part of the estate where cars were hit in Darwin Close and Brisbane Road. In Canberra Crescent 12 cars were smashed.
Any witnesses or anyone with information can call PC Eames on 01305 222222.
