Littlemoor library has been selected as one of ten Dorset libraries to promote this years Orange Prize for fiction.
There will be prominent displays of books highlighting authors of this years Orange shortlisted titles and also authors shortlisted in previous years.
Wimborne and Verwood libraries have also been selected to host discussion evenings- to which local reading group members and members of the public will be invited- to join in the debate, vote for their favourite book and decide for themselves who should be their winner of the 2011 prize.
The Orange Prize was launched in 1996 to celebrate excellence and accessibility in women’s fiction writing and aside from the prestige of winning the successful author will walk away with a cheque for £30,000.
Tracy Long, library service manager at Dorset County Council said,” we hope that as many readers as possible will come along to the library and try at least one or two books from the shortlist.
We are also encouraging people in Dorset to take part in the discussion and decide on a Dorset winner. Verwood library will host a discussion group on 3rd June at 7pm and Wimborne library on 6th June at 7.30pm.
To vote for your favourite book log on to dorsetforyou.com/libraries/news.”
Still with the library and well worth a look, in the junior section there is a very colourful exhibition of artwork from the Kiriani Primary school in Kenya which has been exchanged for similar artwork from Bincombe Primary.
