CELEBRITY eco-campaigner Anna Ryder Richardson is coming to Weymouth this Sunday to endorse a holiday park’s ‘greenest ever’ caravan.
Anna, who is best known for her television roles on Changing Rooms and I’m a Celebrity, is now a passionate campaigner on behalf of her own sustainable and conservation-led zoo.
She will be sharing her enthusiasm for Haven Holiday Homes’ greenest ever holiday home ‘The Vision’, which incorporates a raft of environmentally-friendly features.
Borough residents and holidaymakers will be able to meet the TV star at two Weymouth-based holiday parks this Sunday – at 1pm at Weymouth Bay Holiday Park, Preston and 2.30pm at Littlesea Holiday Park, Weymouth.
Produced by leading manufacturer Willerby, the eco-friendly luxury static caravans aim to cut at least 45 per cent in electricity and gas costs, which helps to reduce carbon emissions and save energy costs.
The insulation, including walls, ceilings and floors, provide similar layers of protection as bricks and mortar and ‘The Vision’ also includes double-glazing, 100 per cent energy efficient lighting and water-saving devices.
Anna said: “Eco-tourism is a major player in changing the way we live our lives and the more we adapt and change our own practice the better it is for the planet.
“Holidaying in the UK is not only fun but it’s also better for our carbon footprint.”
She added, “I love the way it looks. It’s very contemporary and stylish but still very welcoming.
“The lovely earthy colours give it just the right feel.”
Anna, who owns Manor House Wildlife and Leisure Park near Tenby, Pembrokeshire, will be starting her visit to Dorset with a visit to Rockley Park Holiday Park in Hamworthy, Poole.
General manager Geoffrey Smith said: “This is a first for the industry and a real demonstration of Haven’s commitment to environmentally-friendly practices.”
He added: “We are confident that both new and existing owners will opt for the advanced eco-benefits of ‘The Vision’, saving costs and further minimising their impact on the environment.”
