How shameful – the minute Dorset County Council finds it has miscalculated its finances by £6million, they immediately think of milking people with learning difficulties (Echo, May 5).
These people are among the most vulnerable in the county – they are completely at the mercy of the government and the council and have no concept whatsoever of finances.
They do not know the difference between one pound and ten pence, so all the worrying falls on the shoulders of the carers, who are already greatly overburdened with worries.
They should not pay more for transport than would be required of them if they were not disadvantaged.
The council’s greed means that more of these poor people will be sitting at home all day, being bored stiff and their carers unable to do anything for themselves.
Do not always pick on the weakest if you cannot add up your sums and stop wasting our money on ridiculous projects like clever traffic lights.
It’s about time somebody at the council got clever and used their brain.
