WOMEN who run the Race for Life on Sunday will be greeted once again by one of TV’s best known faces as they cross the line.
Local favourite Martin Clunes is lending his support to the Dorchester event and will cheer each participant along the way as they raise money for Cancer Research UK.
He is still urging women to sign up just ahead of the event because there are still places for the 2.30pm race at Kingston Maurward.
Martin, who lives in Beaminster, said: “I would like to issue an urgent rallying call to the town’s ‘missing’ women.
“I hope they will hear the plea from myself, and the Race for Life team, and register as soon as possible. “We need them to step forward and be counted. Together, they will help us create a fantastic atmosphere on the day and every step they take will help doctors, nurses and scientists take major strides forward in research.”
Organisers say that in the hour it takes most women to walk the 5km route, around three people will be diagnosed with cancer in the South West.
* Entry closes for the Race for Life event tomorrow.
