A ROYAL Mail driver has appeared in court charged with driving without due care and attention after a collision in which a pedestrian lost both his legs.

Daniel Young, of Archdale Close, Ensbury Park, Bournemouth, was driving a DAF Lorry through Silver Street in Lyme Regis when his vehicle went into the Mariners Hotel on October 15.

He appeared at Bournemouth Magistrates Court yesterday – his 41st birthday – and the case was adjourned until a plea hearing on June 27. Father-of-one Alexander Quan-Yat-Koon lost both legs in the accident.
