CHILDREN at Broadmayne First School have been getting creative and making music as part of its multi-cultural Arts Fortnight.
The youngsters also showed their support to victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami with a Japanese kite festival in aid of the Tsunami Appeal.
The event was organised by art co-ordinator Anna Felgate and parents were asked to sponsor a kite made by their children.
Headteacher Melanie Austin said: “We thought this quite fitting as kites were thought to bring good luck in Japanese culture.
“It was a very successful day and we have raised £118 to donate to the cause.”
Each class at the school had a visit with ‘the Man from Story Mountain’ who shared traditional stories from different cultures.
Specialist teachers also led the youngsters in a range of multi-cultural dance and drama sessions.
