POPULAR guided walks based around the stations on the Weymouth to Bristol rail line are starting again.
The walks are organised and led by members of the Ramblers with funding from the four Ramblers’ Areas involved – Avon, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire.
The Weymouth to Bristol line promotion group the Heart of Wessex Rail Partnership and train operator First Great Western also support the initiative.
The programme has been running for more than 15 years and walks co-ordinator for Dorset Susan Blake said the walks are a great way for local people to see beautiful countryside, which is on the doorstep.
The new season of walks got under way at the weekend. The next one is on Wednesday from Maiden Newton station.
People are advised to take the 8.53am train from Weymouth and join the group at Maiden Newton for a 8.5-mile circular walk visiting Cruxton, Wynford Eagle, Toller Porcorum and Chilfrome. For details call 01935 389840.
There is also a seven-mile walk on Saturday around Dorchester visiting some of places of interest. Call 01305 263759 for details.
