DOROTHY INN landlord Steve Parker said the way security staff dealt with Moran was a fine example of the joint working that is happening in the town.
He said Moran had initially been ejected from Dusk nightclub and the door staff there had alerted his staff.
Mr Parker said communication between his door staff and the ‘Charlie Four’ CCTV surveillance team also helped warn them Moran was coming back and then helped him locate the knife after the defendant had hidden it.
He said: “One of our door staff was going home when he drove past him coming back into town so he was able to alert me.
“I radioed the CCTV to say he was returning and to follow him.”
Mr Parker added: “Through working together with the CCTV operators and door staff it’s making the town a lot safer and in this case we managed to intercept it so nothing happened.”
He also praised the response of police on the night as ‘outstanding’ and ‘extremely professional’.
In court Judge Jarvis also praised the response of the door staff at the Dorothy Inn after watching the CCTV footage.
He said: “I have to say that in my view the way they dealt with an angry man showed a calm and professional discharge of their duties.”
Mr Parker said he welcomed the sentence.
