The decision by Purbeck Council’s planning committee to overturn their earlier decision in principle in favour of the wind farm at East Stoke is both wrong and perfidious.
Wrong because the threat of climate change is now so serious we need every bit of renewable energy we can get, and we need decisions that inspire and point in the right direction.
Perfidious because the councillors at the earlier meeting gave every impression that the ‘conditions’ were little more than a technical formality, and that they had listened to local people’s views in favour of the wind farm at that meeting.
The promoters of the wind farm will appeal. I hope they succeed.
