ELECTRICALS retailer Comet has announced its Weymouth store is safe amid news that other sites could close.
With parent company Kesa announcing a slide in sales and plans to cut staff, it was reported that up to 10 stores and 12 regional service centres will close.
A spokesman said the Weymouth store at the Jubilee Retail Park is not closing and there was no service centre in the county.
The company is expected to cut 110 jobs but the spokesman said no new announcements had been made about stores closing.
He said possible closures had been discussed in the previous financial year and no plans were now being made.
Annual figures showed sales at Comet declined by 15.2 percent in the 12 weeks to April 30 and were down 7.7 per cent over the past year.
