AS part of International Nurses Day celebrations Weldmar Hospicecare Trust is welcoming nurses from around the globe.
Nurses from South Africa, Denmark and Sweden will be working with the Trust this month, swapping skills, experience and different ways of working.
Director of nursing and patient services at Weldmar Hospicecare Trust Ruth Burnhill said that helping people was hugely rewarding for nursing staff.
She said: “The most rewarding part of the job for most nurses is just the huge privilege of looking after people at that stage in their life, towards the end of their life when we see them or when they are having physical or psychological problems.
"It’s a very critical time for them. Being involved with people at that time is so rewarding.”
She added: “People are always very nice to us. We find people are always very supportive of our work.”
Weldmar Hospicecare looks after up to 18 people in the Joseph Weld Hospice and 200 out in the wider community.
