Tickets
TICKET prices for the Paralympic Games have been announced by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
Prices start at £10 for adults and £5 for those who are 16 or under and 60 or over on August 29 2012, when the 12-day Paralympic Games begin.
Around two million tickets will go on sale next month with ticket applications from the public accepted between September 9 and 30 this year.
Tickets for the opening and closing Ceremonies start at £20.12, with the top end price at £500 for the opening ceremony.
A London Travelcard is included within the price of a ticket for the day of the event.
The Paralympic Games take place between August 29 and September 9 2012, with 20 sports taking place at 19 venues.
It is expected that over 4,000 athletes will compete from 170 countries around the world. Find out more at www.tickets.london2012.com
• OLYMPIC tickets could be offered to members of the public again this summer in a bid to make the 2012 events a sell-out.
Money for tickets that people applied for will start going out this week.
Around 1.3million tickets remain unsold and LOCOG (the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games) will this summer go back to applicants from the initial sale to offer alternatives.
Tickets for team sports such as football, hockey, volleyball and handball have so far proved hard to shift because they take place in large venues and there is no way of knowing at this stage when Britain will compete.
In early July, LOCOG will make all of its unsold tickets available to people who registered but did not get any tickets in the first round of sales.
The remainder will then be up for grabs to anyone in the autumn.
LOCOG has warned that anyone trying to resell Olympic Tickets will be dealt with severely as the practice is illegal.
Offenders could be fined up to £20,000.
Media coverage
THE International Paralympic Committee have named their national press partner for the 2012 games.
The Press Association will work with the IPC to disseminate coverage and news about the events to national and regional press.
A ONCE-in-a-lifetime opportunity has come up for an experienced sailor.
An opening has arisen in a boat crew for the International 14 Open competition at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.
49er sailor Simon Hiscocks announced on his Facebook page that he would be unable to make the event and so there would be a space on the crew for ‘someone with the right skills.’ The dates of the competition are September 4 and 16.
