- A REMINDER that Abbotsbury and Portesham Diamond club will be visiting Bickleigh Mill, near Tiverton on Tuesday, 17 May for shopping and lunch. The coach will be leaving Portesham at 11am. Contact Anita Buckland to book a place.
- CHESIL scout group will be hosting the village café at Portesham village hall on Saturday, 21 May at the usual time of 10am – 12 noon. Refreshments, bacon rolls and cakes will be available together with a raffle.
- BRIDE valley ladies choir will be performing a lunch time concert at St Peter’s church, Portesham on Tuesday, 24 May, 12 noon to 1pm. The programme will include items from early church music to 20th century music and the choir will be accompanied by Sue Smith on the piano and organ. Tickets are £3.50 to include wine and nibbles after the concert and are available on the door or from Gill Jefferis (871653) or other choir members. Proceeds will be shared between Children in Need and St Peter’s church.
- THERE will be two special church services held on Sunday, 29 May. The first is a united benefice communion in St Peter’s at 10.30am to say farewell and thank you to Jack Elwin as he retires from ministry here in Portesham and the second is a Rogation service at the beautiful St Bartholomew’s chapel at Corton at 3pm.
- HAVE you booked your place on the RHS Wisley trip on Tuesday, 5 July? Chesil Bank garden club members £5 deposit (non members £15 if seats available). Contact Clive Rowland (871941). The coach leaves from the village hall at 7.30am and there will be a stop for refreshments along the way.
