As the final part of their Royal Wedding badge, the Scutt Hall Brownies presented a short play about the Royal Wedding before a large invited audience.
On the big day the Queen and her corgi dog – a bit hard on the knees for the young actress – bustled about making sure that everything was in place. Prince William and best man Prince Harry were understandably nervous, as was the Archbishop of Canterbury. Kate, attended by three beautiful bridesmaids was rather calmer as she boarded her coach pulled by a pair of thoroughbred horses to set off for the Cathedral.
Then disaster struck in the form of a flat tyre on the coach, but luckily David Beckham was on hand with a football which acted as a replacement wheel and the day was saved.
The script was written by Brown Owl Maureen Bond and every one of the parts, including the animals, were played by the young ladies of the Brownie Pack, and all received rapturous applause at the final curtain. Well, there wasn’t actually a curtain, but you know what I mean.
The kitchen staff of Maureen, Barn Owl Ruth Meech and County Commissioner Hazel Bruce, then swung into action preparing cups of tea which the Brownies served to the members of the audience, together with delicious cakes. The evening finished with the pack closing ceremony.
The Scutt Hall is a wonderful facility for the Scout and Guide Groups and it is nice to see it being put to such good use.
If there are any young ladies that would like to join the Brownies I am sure Maureen would be pleased to provide details. Give her a ring on 834012.
