A GIRL Guide from Puddletown will be representing West Dorset on the international stage after being selected to attend the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden.

Constance Hambidge, 15, who attends the Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester, said she was ‘excited’ after being selected for such a major event and is now concentrating on raising the £2,000 she needs for her trip.

A fundraising bingo event tonight in Puddletown will help towards that total.

Constance, who is a young leader with Puddletown 1st Brownies and is also a member of the Dorchester senior section, said: “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.

“I was really excited when I found out because being offered the trip is just another experience all together.”

She will also be seeing more than just Sweden She added: “We are going to be doing some cultural stuff, getting to know the culture of Sweden.

“Before we go to Sweden we are going to Denmark as well and then afterwards all the UK participants get to go to spend a couple of days with another scouting family and I’m going to Alicante in Spain.”

Before she goes jet-setting though, Constance has to focus on her fundraising ahead of the jamboree on July 23.

She has already taken part in the Dorchester Lions Club Fun Run and is holding a bingo event in Puddletown tonight.

The bingo night at the Village Hall will also raise funds for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, with doors opening at 6pm and eyes down at 7.30pm.

Constance is also planning a car boot sale and another bingo session in the coming weeks as she prepares for her big trip.
