THERE are only four days left to enter the Echo’s fundraising competition to help Dorset County Hospital reach its total of £500,000 to buy a vitally need cancer scanner.
Lucky Echo readers have the chance to win once-in–a-lifetime prizes such as a walk on part on Doc Martin, a family weekend ticket to Camp Bestival, and an Olympic treat – a one-to one lesson with double Olympic medallist Simon Hiscocks.
And for every call or text the call charge, minus your network charge, will be donated straight to the DCH appeal to help raise money for a life-saving scanner.
Since its launch in the beginning of March this year the appeal has touched the imagination of people all over the county who have been moved enough to embark on fun runs, marathons, hold coffee mornings and run events.
Celebrities have given their time and money by donating prizes that the Echo can offer readers in this competition. The paper’s aim is to boost the appeal’s collection and strive towards hitting the crucial £500,000 target.
The aim of the appeal is to purchase and buy a machine that will move the hospital’s mammography process from film and chemicals to digital – meaning faster diagnosis, more accurate detection and an ability to treat greater numbers.
For those with an interest in politics this competition is giving you the opportunity to have a tour of Parliament and either lunch or teas with your pick of Dorset politicians – West Dorset MP Oliver Letwin, South Dorset MP Richard Drax or a tour of the House of Lords with Baron Knight of Weymouth.
Mr Knight said: “I am thrilled to be able to offer this prize and let the winner see the inner working of the House of Lords.”
All you have to do is pick up the phone and phone or text the number allocated to the prize you fancy.
There’s no limit on the number of times you can call so if you can’t decide why not enter them all.
The phone lines will close at midnight on Wednesday May 11.
