As the chairman of Weymouth Carnival 2011, it is great to see the town revelling in the fantastic weather we all enjoyed over the last few weeks.

Hopefully all the long-suffering local businesses are enjoying an extra added takings bonus.

We as the carnival committee last year were absolutely amazed at the generosity of so many local businesses.

Once again I would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to them as everyone can easily understand the future of our event is very much dependent on that willing assistance.

This year we have endeavoured to present a day the whole town can not only look forward to but can be very proud of.

As is tradition straight after the early May Bank holiday we launch our search for sponsors and so this week our willing sponsorship team will be out and at work.

So please if you are a local business owner/manager greet them with a smile and an offer of help noatter how small every bit helps.

We promise to use it all to improve the day and at the end of the event to use all profits to help benefit locally based good causes.
