TO much surprise, a notice has appeared off Radipole Lane, stating the intention of Southern Electricity to build a substation in Radipole Wood.
Many residents are concerned, as this County Council owned wood was planted with a rich variety of trees, shrubs and bulbs by the Civic Society and is now managed by the Friends of Radipole Wood.
Substations do not require planning permission, but notices must be displayed to allow for objections by members of the public.
This proposal is attracting interest, as there is considerable concern that the wood is not a suitable site for accommodating such machinery.
For further information about how to object to this proposal, Tel: 773199 and letters may be sent to Scottish & Southern Electricity Distribution Ltd, PO Box 2004 Poole, Dorset, BH12 1YT
