WINFRITH hosted a Red Nose Day event at the village hall on Friday March 18 and the hall was buzzing with excited children, teenagers, mums and a good sprinkling of dads and grandparents.
Gemma Dale organised a fantastic evening to raise funds for this great cause. She runs a dancing group every Friday evening for the little ones of the village and you could tell they had practised.
They certainly enjoyed performing and we loved watching them.
There were individual acts such as Jamie Dale, dressed in a pink tutu and Ryan Hislop hula hooping with great aplomb; William and Oliver de Hautville- Bell singing “Rawhide”; Janet Hall and Averil Dale from the West Lulworth Players miming “TORN”.
A lovely group of Year 8 girls from Wareham Middle School have formed a Glee Club in recent months. They entertained us to a couple of great numbers, conducted by their teacher Jo Bursby.
Mike Evans from Weymouth ended the show with a lively rendition of a popular Tina Turner tune.
Well done for raising nearly £500 for this popular cause.
Gemma says she is starting to think of what she can do for Comic Relief so look out – here’s your chance to shine

It was a lovely break thinking of spring and also taking a walk around the village. Good weather prevailed so the village looked pretty with daffodils in full bloom. This was the first event of a network of Dorset Writers and more training days together with author days are being planned.
