THE villages of Bradford Peverell and Stratton are proud of their very active Twinning Association and at their recent meeting Bradford Peverell Parish Council expressed concern that one of the Twinning signs in the village has vanished.
The sign on the approach road from the A37 has been missing for some time and a local search drew a blank.
Coun Neil Howard is investigating the supply of a new sign, which the Parish Council may have to purchase.
He has also informed Highways of damage to the village sign on the approach from Giles Close, which was bent during the snowy weather, and has asked that the HGV sign at the top end of Tilly Whim be redone as it is now almost unreadable.
The Parish Plan is going ahead well after extensive consultation and should be ready for distribution in May.
The local estate was not interested in any tree replanting on the river bank near Ash Hill, planting in another area may well be looked at in the future.
Coun Andrew Buck reported that more traffic was being seen in Muckleford since the new sign went up at the crossroads and as the road is technically a dead end it would be a good idea to attach the ‘No Through Road Sign’ to the finger post to make things clearer.
The council will further investigate the possibility of a gate giving access to the Jubilee Field from Muckleford Lane and also look at new guidance from ROSPA about play surfaces.
It was noted that our request for funding for a bus shelter at Giles Close has been turned down but other avenues are to be explored.
Payments were authorised for the new door for the notice board opposite Frome View and the sign for the new board in the bus shelter.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 12, which will be the Annual Parish and Annual Parish Council meetings.
