I AM pleased to be writing about happenings in and around Winfrith Newburgh and East Knighton again.
So let me know if you would like me to mention your event.
THIS Friday at Winfrith Village Hall, Hank Wangford and Brad Breath will have performed country and western style music and on Saturday we will have enjoyed an Italian meal raising some funds for CancerCare.
Both events are sold out but there are plenty more to come over the next few weeks.
GET practising for Red Nose day Friday, March 18 when Ed AND Gemma are organizing a fund raising evening at Winfrith Village Hall.
If you have an act whether it’s dancing, singing, juggling or telling a joke, here’s your opportunity to star in a good cause.
Telephone them on 852137 to book your slot.
HERE in Winfrith we have all sorts of interest groups so if you fancy knowing a bit more about any of them contact me and I’ll put you in touch.
There is a creative writing group usually meeting on a Monday; a drama group meeting on a Thursday; a computer club; ladies friendship circle; a gardening club all of whom meet monthly.
Every week there is an exercise class and Pilates as well.
Mother and Toddlers meet weekly and on a Friday afternoon there’s a chance for the little ones to let off steam dancing with Gemma
A local history group has been formed too. They are keen to copy people’s photographs, maps, documents, in fact anything related to Winfrith Newburgh and East Knighton and also are making recordings of people’s memories of what it was like around here long ago.
Plans are being made to have some cream teas when people can bring along their photos and memories and see what has been collected so far.
A couple of talks are being booked too and I’ll give details of those later on.
SHEILA and Pauline are looking for any unwanted gifts or small items they can sell on their stall during the summer months raising funds for Cancer Research.
If you pop them into Winfrith Post Office they will be delighted.
CAN I take this opportunity to thank John and all the staff at Winfrith Post Office for selling tickets and advertising all the events that take place in this area?
It is great that we have this facility and please support our local shop. We would miss it very much if it weren’t here.
